Something New I Learned This Week About Venture Capital Funding

Venture funding in 2021 broke records across the board, with investment last year up more than 10x what it was a decade earlier.

Global venture investment last year totaled $643 billion, compared to $335 billion for 2020. That’s 92 percent growth year over year.

The figures underscore a dramatic change in the startup funding environment in the past year. Consider that at the end of 2020, almost a year into the pandemic, global venture investment had grown around 4 percent year over year.

Bottom line is that venture capitalists are flush with cash looking for companies to invest in. If you’re looking to raise money for your company there might never be a better time!

What I’m Reading or… Finished Reading in this Case

Tribe by Sebastian Junger

Humans have a strong instinct to belong to small groups defined by a clear purpose and understanding, aka”tribes.” In more ways than one, the people that work for you, through the culture you build, create a tribe.

Combining history, psychology, and anthropology, Tribe explores what we can learn from tribal societies about loyalty, belonging, and the eternal human quest for meaning.

Great read (or listen as I did on Audible). Recommended. Best price is here for book or audio >>>
