CAREER: Entrepreneur, Venture Capitalist, Management
I have been an entrepreneur, investor and served in management with a Fortune 100 company. I started my professional career as a pioneer on the Internet in 1995 as the Founder and CEO of Worldwide Angler, Inc. where I built the business plan and led the company from inception through three rounds of financing. Worldwide Angler was recognized as the leading recreational fishing interactive media (in Web 2.0 nomenclature, Social Media or Social Networking ) and e-commerce site on the internet by publications such USA Today and for its leading technology by PC Magazine.
As a venture capitalist I worked for two prominent venture capital firms in Northern Virginia investing in technology companies and worked in Marketing at America Online, Inc..
A cross section of my passion for interactive media and fishing has led me to run one of the largest recreational fishing social networking sites on the internet called TidalFish.com for the past ten years as what I would call a “super hobby” business. The site has over 60,800 registered anglers, logs over 125,000 unique visitors a month who stay on average 14 minutes per visit. The Tidal Fish brand extends beyond the web with real life events, even to prime time cable where this past season an Army Wives leading character wore a Tidal Fish camo hat in almost every episode. Tidal Fish focuses on recreational fishing and fly fishing in the Chesapeake Bay, along the East Coast and on adventure fishing travel worldwide.
I am currently working on a messaging cloud company with several fellow co-founders called Zuess. The company is bringing twenty years of needed innovation to the messaging inbox.
I am always looking for opportunities to work with new and exciting people/companies where I believe I can add value by applying my experience and sharing lessons I learned from being on the investor and entrepreneur side of the table.
PROFESSION: Chief Angler
I am a life long angler. Besides fishing and exploring the many waters of the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Coast, I’ve traveled the world in search of many species. I especially seek out destinations where my second love (preceded by striped bass fishing) bonefish swim. I have fished many of the waters in South America, Latin America, most islands in the Bahamas, the Seychelles Islands (Indian Ocean), Turks and Cacios, and throughout the entire United States from Alaska to Maine.
