We’re revamping my personal website (you’re seeing it now, what do you think?) and as we’ve been cleaning up and re-writing some old blog posts, I noticed that out of the hundreds of posts I’ve done the one on How to Be Happy is the most popular.

People Google “how to be happy” over 33,100 times a month.

Here’s an UPDATED version of the post because the original post didn’t easily show how to make the change you need to make to be happy. I offer ways to make a change.

See what you think….

Sometimes we over complicate how to be happy and make excuses why we can’t change our circumstances.

You might respond,

“Brandon, I can’t change it, I’m stuck in this situation or stuck with XYZ.”

That may be absolutely true right in this moment.

But here’s the thing…

Your past does not have to be your future.

You can start to change that right now, in the next few seconds.

You will not be able to make a total change overnight. However…

You can change something that gets you going in the right direction towards being happy with whatever you’re not happy with RIGHT NOW.

Here’s how…

Step 1 Make a plan:

I don’t care if it’s on the back of a napkin. Write down what you need to do to get you from where you are right now to here you want to go.

For example:

If you want to lose 10lbs. write down what you need to do.

HINT: you need to take in less calories than you eat.

You’re not going to do that overnight so what’s one step you can take.

SUGGESTION: Start with eating 1/4 less of everything.

Don’t cut out a thing, just eat a little less.

Drinking 2 glasses of wine a night? Just have one.

Eating four cookies after dinner, eat 2.

See what happens in a few weeks.

or

You want to build a business

Start with creating a business plan. See above or below for an episode on that.

You’re not happy in your relationship

Decide you’re going to be totally, completely honest. Then…

Discover if you have anything to do with it. What can you improve or fix?

If it’s not repairable, what’s your three month plan to make a change?

Write that on the back of the napkin to get started.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not suggesting that change isn’t scary, that it will not cause some anxiety. IT WILL!

But guess what…I can’t think of any time in my life when I wasn’t happy and made a change that I didn’t end up in a better place and happy I did it.

It will be the same outcome for you.

One more tip:

CHANGE YOUR SELF TALK because…. you’re listening.

Replace negative language with the positive outcome you want.

When you catch yourself thinking something negative replace it with…

“That’s not like me, Your name is a positive person”

Replaying the past in your mind a lot? When that happens say,

“I forgive and RELEASE the past.”

Follow that with a thought about you achieving one of your goals in the future.

One small step a day with get you there 👊

Success will lead to more success and before you know it you’ve have changed your unhappiness to being happy.

🫵 Your move
